Meerut/IBNS: In a video which went viral on social media, a Meerut police officer was caught on camera asking some people to go Pakistan for protesting against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment), Act, 2019.

Surrounding one of the protesters, a cop was heard saying, "Go to Pakistan if you don't want to stay here," followed by another cop who said, "It will take seconds for us to make your future dark."

"I will change the lane. If I remember something, I reach out to grandmother also," the first police officer added.

When contacted by The Indian Express, Singh said, “The context is that anti-social elements were making pro-Pakistan statements”.

“We had come to the area to see who all were making pro-Pakistan statements. When we arrived with force, they had run away. We found out that there were 3-4 such people who wanted to create an issue. We had discussions with locals,” the SP said.

Amid tight security, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a peaceful Friday this week as no fresh violence was reported in the state where already 20 odd people have been killed due to violent anti-CAA protests which took place in last couple of weeks.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already announced the properties of the people- who vandalised public properties in the name of protests- will be seized as compensation.

The country in last couple of weeks witnessed violence protests against the CAA which will grant citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.
