Dilip Ghosh asks party workers to defy police orders after BJP rally stopped in south Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: BJP state unit president Dilip Ghosh on Monday urged his party members to defy police orders if they don't allow BJP to hold rallies.

Ghosh said this after police stopped BJP's rally in south Kolkata even as TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a mega rally in the city this afternoon to protest against the implementation of the National Register of Citizens(NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).

After the Citizenship Amendment Bill became law last week, violent protests erupted across the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been vehemently protesting against the law and declared that neither NRC nor CAA will be allowed in West Bengal.

After leading the mega protest rally in Kolkata today, she told a gathering of party activists that the Bharatiya Janata Party government will have to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens over her dead body.

On the other hand, BJP state unit president Dilip Ghosh alleged that the violent agitation in West Bengal has been taken over by illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh and the situation worsened due to inaction of the state government.

Yesterday, in a press conference, he had said that if the state government remained passive in the face of violence against Hindus in the remote areas of West Bengal by illegal Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants, his BJP will do what it can to save them.

West Bengal BJP will hold a mega rally on Dec 23 in Kolkata and Dec 24 in North Bengal to celebrate the passing of CAA and congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for the "bold" move, the BJP MP said.

Over one lakh people will gather in Kolkata for the mega rally, he added.
