Protests continue in Assam against CAB

Guwahati/IBNS: Protests in Assam by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and students of several institutions opposing the Citizenship (Amednment) Bill have intensified as the centre is all set to table the bill during the ongoing winter session of the parliament.

The members of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) – an influenced student body of Assam- took out cycle, motorcycle rally across the state in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

The protesters shouted slogans against the bill.

A protester said All Assam Students’ Union and the people of Assam will not take this bill.

“This bill is an unconstitutional, communal bill. This bill will affect the culture, heritage of Assam. So, we can’t take it. We demand the government to scrap the bill immediately,” the protester said.

Apart from AASU, the students of several educational institutions of the state including Dibrugarh University, Cotton University have continued their protests against the bill.

On Tuesday, the students of the Dibrugarh University staged protest against the bill in front of the higher educational institute in Dibrugarh.

The students have shouted slogans against the bill, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and demanded the government to withdraw the bill.
