Shiv Sena slams BJP in Saamana over 'Presidential rule threat' as deadlock continues in Maharashtra

Mumbai/IBNS: Hinting at no end to the deadlock over power share between the two largest parties in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena has once again raised its voice against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which had reminded about the Presidential rule which might get imposed if no state government is installed by Nov 7, media reports said.

As the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is yet to form the Maharashtra government even after getting a clear mandate more than a week ago, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar on Friday said the president's rule might be imposed in the state if no government is formed by Nov 7.

Slamming its bigger ally BJP in party mouthpiece Saamana, the Sena said as quoted by NDTV, "Mungantiwar's statements are a proof of the toxicity brewing with the party (BJP) and in his mind," the article titled "Is President In Your Pocket? Insult To Maharashtra."

"Is the President under your (BJP's) control or President's stamp is at BJP's office which will be used if party is not able to form government in the state and President's rule can be imposed in Maharashtra?" the Saamana article further reads.

After the poll results came out on Oct 24, the Sena insisted on the 50:50 deal which it said was sealed between the two parties prior to the 2019 General Elections.

Though Maharashtra caretaker Chief Minister and BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis, had said the power share will be determined as per the deal, the saffron party refused to Sena's demand of rotational Chief Minister.

The Sena might push its chief Uddhav Thackeray's son and young leader Aaditya to assume the topmost post for 2.5 years, several media reports stated.

Not getting the favourable posts from the BJP, the Sena has also warned its ally saying they have all options open hinting at its possible new equation with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress which together got 98 seats.

The Sena and BJP have won 161 seats with 105 coming from Fadnavis' party.

Meanwhile, the BJP legislative party has already elected Fadnavis as its leader paving his way to become the Chief Minister for the second straight term.
