New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS): Launching the Fit India Movement on National Sports Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday said fitness should become a mass movement in the country.

Addressing a huge gathering, Modi said fitness has a direct link to sports.

Reminding people about China's Fitness Mission for 2030, the Prime Minister blamed technology for making people lesser fit.

"Now technology has made us such that we walk less and count more as to how many kilometers we have travelled," he said.

With a bit of wit, Modi has also narrated how people nowadays like to talk about fitness instead of practicing it.

"People do talk about fitness in the dinner table while having more than wholesome food. But they never do excercise," he said.

The Prime Minister added, "People also set up gym at their own houses but never pay a visit."

Along with Modi, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan were also present in the event.
