New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS): A Delhi court has directed framing of charges against expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Sengar who has allegedly raped a minor from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, media reports said.

Sengar will be framed under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Other charges of rape, criminal conspiracy and kidnapping will also be brought against the MLA.

The rape case came back to light causing a huge uproar across the nation after the rape victim, her family members and lawyer met with an accident when their car was hit by a truck at Sultanpur Khera roundabout in the district last month. Sengar is also an accused in the accident.

The victims were going on a car to meet their relative at Rae Bareli jail when it was hit by a truck coming from opposite direction under Gurubakshganj police station area on Rae Bareli-Banda highway.

The people in the car were going to Rae Bareli jail, where the gang rape victim's uncle is lodged. The victim is still on life support in Lucknow.

Taking cognizance of the Unnao rape incident, the Supreme Court has ordered a shifting of all five cases related to the crime from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi and also ordered the Yogi Adityanath government to pay an interim compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the victim.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who had summoned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers at noon, asked for the completion of the trial, which will have to be carried out on a daily basis, within 45 days since its commencement. The top court had directed the CBI to probe within seven days the accident of the victim.

Consequently, the hearing started last week.
