Annual NCC sailing expedition concludes

Kolkata, June 28 (IBNS): The Annual Sailing Expedition for the year 2019 undertaken by 60 Naval cadets of NCC Group Headquarters Kolkata  under the aegis  of  NCC Directorate  WB & Sikkim from Farakka to Kolkata in four 27-feet DK Whaler boats came to an end with the flagging-in of the boats by Maj General KT Sreekumar, ADG NCC WB & Sikkim Directorate, at the Man of War Jetty, Prinsep Ghat this morning, officials said on Friday.

The expedition team comprised  of  20  Naval senior wing  girls and 40 senior division  boys  NCC Cadets from No. 1 (Bengal) and No.2 (Bengal) Naval Units  belonging to various colleges  in and around Kolkata  and  8 Naval  staff of the Indian Navy. Captain S Biswas Commanding Officer and  Cdr PK Manna, Commanding Officer, led the team.

The expedition was flagged off from Farakka by Commodore Aloke Chatterjee, Group Commander, at 0815h on 15 Jun 2019   after six days of sailing cum pulling camp at NTPC Farakka, read a government statement.        

Cdt Shubhojit Mondal, Cdt Simran Pradhan, Cdt Bikash Choudhary were adjudged best pullers and the boat Charlie team was declared the winner.
