Court rejects Akash VIjayvargiya's bail application
Indore, June 26 (IBNS): A court had refused bail to BJP MLA from Indore Akash Vijayvargiya, party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya's son, after he assaulted a municipal corporation officer with a cricket bat.
Akash had been arrested on Wednesday after video of him in the act went viral. The court has now sent him to judicial custody till July 7, media reports said.
The MLA had defended his move by describing it as "just the beginning".
He was quoted as saying by Times now: "This is just the beginning, we will end this corruption and goondaism. Aavedan (apply), nivedan (request) aur fir dana dan (thrashing), this is our line of action.”
The incident occurred at a time when a team of the civic body went to Ganji area in Indore to demolish a dilapidated building.
Akash was protesting with the locals against the corporation's move to demolish the building.
Akash told Times Now, "I got to know that some buildings are being demolished by some Congress leaders in connivance with the Municipal Corporation. I requested them to keep me in the loop if any work is being done in my area, but they did not take me seriously."
"Two days ago, I got to know that a building is being demolished so I sent my workers to get a report and also send me pictures. I spoke to the Commissioner and asked for some time to investigate, and he agreed. However, the next day I got to know that gangs were sent to displace people living in this building. Gangs dragged women out of their houses by their feet, women police should've been with them but they were not. When I reached there, people got angry at the officers and chased them away," he was quoted as saying by the news channel.
Questions on Akash irk father
BJP general secretary Kailash VIjayvargiya attacked a journalist on air when questioned on his son's actions.
Speaking to News24, he asked the anchor not to act like a judge when asked about his son's behaviour.
“Who are you? What is your reputation? You will pass a judgement on an MLA?” he told the anchor before disconnecting the call.
