Two people killed, 15 injured in truck-bus collision on Agra-Lucknow expressway

Etawah, Jun 12 (UNI) Two people were killed and 15 others sustained critical injuries in a truck-bus collision at the Agra-Lucknow expressway in the Saifai area of this Uttar Pradesh district on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police (rural) Ram Badan Singh said that the accident took place when in an attempt to overtake a granite-laden truck, a double-decker bus rammed into it from behind at around 0330 hrs near the Timrua village at channel number 105 of the expressway.

Bus passengers Avinash Kaur (22) and Devki Gupta (50) were killed on the spot while 15 injured have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Two among the injured are stated to be critical and have been admitted to mini-PGI, Saifai.

The bus was reportedly carrying 45 passengers from Delhi to Siddharthnagar and following the accident, the driver of the bus and the conductor fled from the spot.


The injured have been identified as Shravan Kumar, Pooja, Ram Singh, Kalpana, Manoj Parimal, Aslam, Ajay, Dayaram, Reshma Devi, Ajay Kumar, Ratanlal, Vidya Devi and Asaram and some of them are residents of Gorakhpur, Basti and Siddharthnagar districts.
