Washington, Jun 12 (UNI) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be visiting New Delhi on 25-26 June, according to the reports here.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is visiting New Delhi to prepare for a summit meet between US president Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Osaka on the sidelines of the G20 meet.

Ties between India and the US have warmed considerably in the past two decades with a convergence of views on many issues – a far cry from the days they were seen as on opposite sides during the Cold War.

A measure of the close ties between the two countries is the fact that defence purchases by India from US companies has grown to $16-18 billion in less than two decades.

The two countries have more than 30 dialogues spanning health, education, defence and strategic affairs.
