Chennai, Jun 10 (UNI): Three people, including a child, were killed and 15 other sustained injuries after a truck rammed into a Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus, which made a screeching halt to avoid hitting another  bus that suffered a tyre burst at Shoolagiri on the Krishnagiri-Hosur highway in the early hours of Monday.

Reports received here said that the victims, travelling in the bus that suffered a tyre burst, were crossing the highway when the incident occurred.

The mishap started when the front wheel of a Krishnagiri-bound STC bus from Hosur  burst at around 4:30 am. The alert driver managed to bring the bus to a halt and the
passengers alighted from it and were crossing the highway.

Another STC bus was coming behind it. It's driver noticed it and applied sudden brakes  to avoid hitting the first bus.

A speeding truck which was tailing the second bus crashed into it and hit the passengers crossing the road, killing three of them on the spot.

The deceased included a child.

The impact of the accident was such that the truck and the second bus turned turtle and was dragged off the highway to some distance.

The injured were admitted to Hosur government hospital for treatment.
