Manipur: 12 Congress MLAs resign from organisational posts

Imphal, May 29 ( UNI) Congress leaders including 12 MLAs holding various organisational posts have submitted their resignation letters to Congress president Gaikhangam.

The Congress MLAs addressing the media at the party head office here today said they want to work for the party at the grass root level and strengthen the party.

Congress lost both the Lok Sabha seats in the Lok Sabha elections. They further said they believe in the ideology of Congress. They hinted at a desire to overhaul the organisational setup.

In many states, Congress Chiefs offered to step down.

Those who addressed the conference included Govindas, Loken, Joykishan, Fajur, Nasir, IMO, Megha Chandra, Alfred, Korungthang, Thaisii, Ranjit, Chaltonlien and were holding posts of Chief

Whip, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and General Secretaries.

They said they accept the moral responsibility of the defeat.

The Congress MLAs resolve to remain firmly in the Congress to work for the people of Manipur.

Other Congress leaders expressed dissatisfaction of the leadership in Manipur during the elections.
