Jalandhar police nabs a person with pistol and cartridges

Jalandhar, May 18 (UNI) District rural police on Saturday nabbed a person carrying a .315 caliber pistol and five cartridges. 

SSP Rural Navjot Singh Mahal told media persons that following the instructions of the Election Commission of India to curb any kind of violence, the Goraya police had laid a naka on the Sargundi canal bridge. At about 1030 hrs, the police party on naka saw a person coming from the railway station side crossing through fields.

On suspicion, he was stopped for physical checking during which a pistol and cartridges were recovered from his possession.


A case under section 25 of the Arms act had been registered against him at Goraya police station.

 

The accused had been identified as Nakul, a resident of Mujjafarpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
