Maharashtra: Abducted girls recovered from Palghar, one held

Palghar, May 15 (UNI) Police have recovered two teenage girls from Maharashtra's Palghar district, who were allegedly kidnapped from Uttar Pradesh and arrested a youth in this connection.

The accused, Abhijit Yadav, hails from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and the victim girls hail from Sonauli town in Maharajganj district.

On the intervening night of May 9-10, the victim girls ran from their house in Uttar Pradesh as one of them had failed in exams and was in depression.

On May 13, the family members of the victim girls filed a missing complaint and said that Abhijit may have kidnapped the girls.

Based on a tip-off,the police traced the girls in the Rahmat Nagar locality of Tulinj and rescued them on Tuesday, police said.

Police said the accused was arrested and the trio, including the victim girls, will be handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Police after completion of due process.
