Modi remembers Ambedkar, Lohia only during elections: Akhilesh

Ayodhya, May 3 (UNI): Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said that now that elections are on, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started mentioning Bhimrao Ambedkar and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia in his speeches.

Addressing an election rally in support of the SP-BSP alliance candidate Anand Sen Yadav at Gulabbadi's ground, Yadav said it was the alliance's effect that now, Mr Modi had started remembering Ambedkar and Ram Manohar Lohia.

He said that post Independence, Lohia and Ambedkar had together steered the political ideology ahead which was further forwarded by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Kanshi Ram.

The SP president said that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and SP were working to steer the society ahead with that political ideology. He averred that the ‘gathbandhan’ was about to provide the country with a new PM after May 23 and the ‘chowki’ of the ‘chowkidar’ was also going to be snatched.

The SP president said Modi was the country’s first Prime Minister who had not kept any of his promises, rather had worked against the promises.

Corruption did not stop through GST or demonetisation, rather it has increased. In the 2014 elections, he had come as a ‘chaiwala,’ now he has come as a ‘chowkidar’. In his ‘chowkidari,’ 15 Jawans were martyred in Maharashta recently, Yadav said.

Mr Yadav said that in the past five years, the income of the farmers did not double, rather the prices of petrol-diesel have gone up. The farmers are worried for they have to guard their farms day and night.

The former UP CM said that the BJP had talked about making Ayodhya a smart city, but where was it?

Uttar Pradesh's 'baba' CM had said that during Deepawali, 'diyas' would be lit with 'desi ghee,' but later mustard oil was used, the SP leader quipped.

'Baba' has deceived Ayodhya, he said, adding that the BJP people mislead the public and spread hatred. They don't fulfil any promises. BJP government has stopped the work of development in Ayodhya. Our government was constructing a 'bhajan' spot of international level in Ayodhya but that was also stopped. Likewise, our government had planted lakhs of trees for the pilgrims and devotees at the 'Parikrama Path' but now they are not being looked after in the appropriate manner. We had done the work of underground electricity in Ayodhya and started various schemes for the development of Ayodhya-Faizabad, Mr Yadav said.

The former chief minister said if his government comes to power, the Agra expressway would be connected to Ayodhya as well. He said that if Lucknow-Kanpur can have Indian Premier League matches, why not Ayodhya-Faizabad as well?

Slamming chief minister Yogi Adityanath, he said that in his tenure, the condition of 108 ambulance and 100 number police was in a bad shape which had been started to facilitate the people.

Yadav said his government had provided those students who had passed 12th standard with laptops so that the future of the children becomes bright but it was stopped because 'Baba' did not know how to operate laptops.
