Bihar: Huge consignments of foreign liquor seized

Patna, Apr 9 (UNI) Police seized huge consignments of foreign liquor in Buxar and Siwan districts during the last 12 hours.

According to a report from Buxar, police seized 172 cartons of foreign liquor from a truck at Sujaitpur village under Dhansoi police station area in Buxar district today.

Buxar sub divisional police officer Satish Kumar said that 8256 bottles of foreign liquor packed in 172 cartons were seized from the truck at the village on the basis of specific intelligence input. He said peddlers made good their escape from the spot after they got inkling of police raid.

Kumar said that a motorcycle was also seized from the spot. Further investigation is on, he added.

According to a report from Siwan, police seized 986 bottles of foreign liquor of Mairwa-Guthani main road near Deowaria bridge under Guthni police station area in Siwan district late last night.

Police said that peddlers made good their escape from the spot. The seized liquor was manufactured in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Raids are being conducted to nab the peddlers, police added.
