New Delhi, Apr 8 (IBNS): Speaking at the release of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Lok Sabha poll manifesto on Monday, party chief Amit Shah referred to the five-year rule of the saffron party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a golden period.

"When history of India's development will be written, the journey from 2014 to 2019 will be written in golden letters," Shah said.

The manifesto was released by BJP chief Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with senior leaders Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.

Shah also praised Modi saying, "In five years, the Prime Minister has taken more than 50 steps which will be a part of India's history."

The BJP released its manifesto three days before the first phase of Lok Sabha polls.

BJP came to power in 2014 with a sweeping majority defeating the Congress, which had manged to get only 40 odd seats.
