We will carry out surgical strike on poverty, if voted to power: Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi

India Blooms News Service | @indiablooms | 31 Mar 2019, 11:30 am

Vijayawada, Mar 31 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi reiterated that his party would carry out surgical strike on “poverty”, if voted to power and assured to waive agriculture loans to the farmers in Andhra Pradesh and accord Special Category Status (SCS).

Addressing an election meeting here on Sunday, he assured to build a strong Andhra Pradesh, waive agriculture loans, accord SCS, develop infrastructure and develop AP as an advanced state, if the Congress is voted to power. He appealed people to vote for Congress to do due justice to AP.

The then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured on behalf of India to accord SCS to AP but Narendra Modi led Centre did not grant SCS to the same, he alleged. He said that the Congress has decided to remove poverty in the country at once and claimed that 14 crore people were removed from poverty during the 10 years UPA led government.

“We will carry out surgical strike Nyay against poverty. 20 per cent people in the population are earning less than Rs 12,000 per month. We want to transfer Rs 6,000 per month to their bank accounts, which will benefit 25 crore people, if the Congress is voted to power” he explained.

Launching a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Modi wants to create two Indias. One India is for the richest people and other India is for farmers, labourers and unemployed people, he slammed.

“Mr.Modi declared war on the poor but the Congress has declared war against poverty. Mr. Modi assured to create crores of jobs but failed to do so. The GST and demonetization have crippled the small and medium traders”, he flayed. “Mr.Modi dismantled everything during the five years and crippled the implementation of MGNREGA and food security”, he charged. He said that the Dalits and Muslims are facing insecurity in the NDA regime. He opined that the AP government failed to exert pressure aggressively on the Centre for the SCS and mismanagement existed in the state.

Rahul Gandhi devoted most of the time to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighting the schemes, which the Congress will implement, if voted to power.

Interestingly, Mr.Gandhi did not criticise Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and not even mentioned his name. Commenting on opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said “You know about the corruption cases on Jagan Reddy”. Rahul mainly focussed on impressing people by highlighting the new schemes of Congress party.
