Punjab: Vigilance officials nab sub-inspector for taking bribe

Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI/IBNS): Punjab State Vigilance Bureau nabbed a Sub-Inspector red handed for accepting bribe of Rs one lakh.

Stating this here on Wednesday, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sub-Inspector Rajwant Singh posted at police station SSOC, Fazilka was nabbed red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from complainant Gurlal Singh, a resident of Dhodrian Wali Gali in Moga district, who approached the vigilance bureau and alleged that the accused has been demanding Rs three lakh to return his licensed revolver back as he had got bail from the court in a NDPS case but the deal was struck at Rs two lakhs.
 
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Sub-Inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs 1,00,000 as a first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. 
 
He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation was under progress.
