Modi attacks Mamata at Thakurnagar rally in Bengal over 'democracy', 'syndicate raj'

Kolkata, Feb 2 (IBNS): Apart from pitching in the new benefits provided to the farmers through interim union budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who recently said the Modi government has expired, from a rally in West Bengal.

Addressing a rally at Thakurnagar, Modi took a jibe at the syndicate raj which the BJP has alleged to be prevalent in the state.

Referring to the Union Budget, Modi said: "There will be no syndicate tax, no obstacles. The people will directly receive the Rs. 6,000 meant for them under the new budget. The farmers can use this money to meet the expenditures needed for agriculture."

Attacking the ruling TMC for allegedly resorting to violence to stop the growth of the BJP in the state, Modi said: "Looking at the currents scenario, I've now understood why Didi resorts to violence. Those who advertise to be democratic, kill innocent people."

"Leaders haven't focused on the development of rural areas. New India cannot function in this way. The Central government is making every effort for the past 4.5 years for the development of farmers and agricultural laborers," added the Prime Minister.

Violence before rally:

Meanwhile ahead of the two Modi rallies in Bengal, there were clashes  between the BJP and TMC activists late on Friday in  Durgapur where the PM will address another meeting. BJP posters and banners were allegedly torn down by the TMC men.

The Prime Minister also visited the state just days after a violence erupted in east Midnapore district where BJP national president Amit Shah held a rally.

The TMC workers allegedly attacked several vehicles after Shah concluded the rally.

The state BJP claimed several of its workers were injured and also arrested by the police.

The incident escalated the ongoing political tussle between the BJP and ruling TMC in the state.

One more rally for Modi:

Modi, who met the Matua community ahead of the General Elections, will next address a rally in Durgapur on Saturday afternoon.
