RJD backs SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Jan 14 (IBNS): Congress' Bihar ally RJD has backed the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh general elections.

Addressing a joint news conference with SP's Akhilesh Yadav on Monday, RJD vice president Tejwashwi Yadav said: “We are in no doubt that the BJP has been wiped out of UP and Bihar. The SP-BSP alliance has sent a message across the country.”

On Sunday, Tejashwi met BSP supremo Mayawati in Lucknow and wished her on her birthday.

"Extended warm Birthday greetings in advance to the person who deserves honor because of everything she has achieved in life.Elders teaches us a ton when we grow up under their guidance. I wish many more years ahead, happiness & success to Honourable Mayawati Ji. Happy Birthday!," he tweeted.

He also shared several images of the meeting on his Twitter page.

The meeting took place at a time when the BSP and the Samajwadi Party, two major political parties in the Uttar Pradesh, announced an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls.

In a joint news conference on Saturday, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati said both the parties would contest in 38 seats each.

Two seats have been left for the Congress and two others for other regional parties.
