New Delhi, Jan 14 (IBNS): Police detained for a short while a Pakistan High Commission official posted in the national capital after an Indian woman alleged "inappropriate touching" by him, media reports said.

Though Indian authorities claim he was not arrested, Pakistan claims he was arrested and that he was released only after an intervention by the neighbouring country's government.

The Print citing sources said the woman claimed the incident happened at the Sarojini Nagar market on Saturday, following which she complained to the police. The matter was resolved on Saturday night after the official apologised. He was then released.

However, reports in the Pakistani media claim he was arrested and made to sign a note.

Geo News, citing sources, said Pakistan took up the matter with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs following which he was released.

“Pakistan strongly protested this violation of the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations and reserves the right to respond,” The Dawn quoted a Pakistan foreign office source as saying.
