Government increases requests for information, user accounts of Facebook

New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS): The government has increased its requests for "information" and "user accounts" of Facebook, media reports said.

In last three years, around 63 percent (estimated) Facebook accounts have increased in India.

Facebook said on Friday, according to The Indian Express, the government's request for "information" and "user accounts" have increased by three-folds.

The social networking site has found the government increased its request steadily from 2013 to July 2018.

In the first six months of 2013, there were only eight requests from the government.

However, in the first half of 2018, the government requests have been recorded as 16,580.

From the first half of 2013 to the same period in 2018, the government requests for user accounts have increased from 4,144 to 23,047.
