BJP leader Ananth Kumar's last rites to be performed today

Bangalore, Nov 13 (IBNS): The last rites of deceased Union Minister and BJP leader Ananth Kumar will be held on Tuesday.

Several top leaders are expected to attend the funeral of the leader.

He will be cremated with full state honours, reports said.

Modi arrived in Bangalore on Monday. He paid his tributes to the late leader.

Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy welcomed him to the state and an official Twitter post on the CM's micro-blogging site page said: "Prime Minister @narendramodi arrived in Bengaluru this evening to pay his tributes to Union Minister H.N. #AnanthaKumar, who breathed his last early morning today. Vajubhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka , Chief Minister @hd_kumaraswamy and others welcomed him at HAL airport."

Ananth Kumar passed away at a hospital in Bangalore in the wee hours on Monday.

The senior BJP leader was 59.

He was suffering from cancer.

In the PM Narendra Modi-led government, he was holding two portfolios-Parliamentary Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilizers.

According to reports, his wife and two daughters were beside him in his last moments.

He had represented south Bengaluru constituency as an MP for six times.

Karnataka state government had announced a three-day state mourning on Monday.
