Grenade blasts accidentally in Assam’s Morigaon district, 2 hurt

Guwahati, Nov 11 (IBNS) : Two persons were injured while a grenade exploded accidentally at Jagiroad in Assam’s Morigaon district on Saturday. 

According to the reports, the grenade accidentally exploded at a house owned by Sushil Sarkar.

Sushil Sarkar and Sagar Mandal were injured in the explosion.

The grenade belonged to a BSF team deployed in the area on NRC duty and a BSF personnel lost the stun grenade on Friday and were looking for it with the help of local people.

Sushil Sarkar found the grenade and took it to his house.

When he removed the safety pin it exploded.

Swapnaneel Deka, Superintendent of Police of Morigaon district said a BSF jawan lost the grenade and BSF personnel were looking for it.

But they did not inform police about it.

“Sushil Sarkar had found the stun grenade and took it to his home. When he removed the safety pin of the grenade it exploded. Two persons including Sarkar were injured in the explosion and immediately rushed to hospital,” the Morigaon district SP said.

The Morigaon district SP further said that, they received minor injuries in the incident.
