Assam govt remits sentences of 20 prisoners on Mahatma's 150th birth anniversary

Guwahati, Sept 27 (IBNS)  : Commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Assam government  has decided to remit sentences against 20 prisoners under certain categories.

The decision has been announced through a notification issued on September 24.           

These prisoners have been accorded approval for their release in the first phase with effect from October 2, 2018.
