Over 80,000 people affected in Assam flood, 45 people dies

Guwahati, Aug 8 (IBNS): The flood situation in Assam still grim while over 80,000 people of three districts of the state remain affected.

Over 80,000 people have been affected in Hojai, Biswanath and Golaghat districts.

Following heavy rains in several parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the flood waters on Wednesday have submerged over 40 villages in Hojai and Biswanath districts.

In Hojai district, flood waters have inundated NRC Seva Kendra, village panchayat office in Dimarupar, Kapahbari area.

The flood affected people have been forced to take shelter in schools, roadside higher lands.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), this year flood has claimed 45 lives across the state so far.
