Won't interfere with Delhi HC's order for granting bail to Karti Chidambaram: SC

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Friday said it won't interfere with the Delhi High Court's order of granting bail to former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti, who is an accused in the INX media case, media reports said.

A bench of Justices AK Sikri and Ashok Bhushan said they won't go into the technicality of the high court's order.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had said in an appeal that it was impermissible to grant a bail to Karti whose similar application was pending in the trial court.

On Mar 23, Karti was granted a bail by the court.

Karti has been accused of getting government clearance for foreign investments worth around Rs. 300 crore in television company INX Media in exchange for bribes in 2007. It has been alleged that he used the clout of his father who was then the Union Finance Minister.

Denying the charges, the 46-year-old businessman has  claimed that the case against him has been fabricated as part of  "political vendetta".
