Rajinikanth's wife Latha to face trial in Rs. 6.20 cr fraud case: Supreme Court

New Delhi, July 10 (IBNS): Setting aside the Karnataka High Court's order, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said actor-politician Rajinikanth's wife Latha will have to face trial in a fraud case amounting to Rs. 6.20 cr, media reports said.

According to reports, Latha failed to clear the dues of Rs. 6.20 cr to advertising firm Ad Bureau.

A loan of Rs. 10 cr was taken from the advertising firm for the post-production work of Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone starrer film Kochadaiiyaan, which released in 2014.

The firm had later alleged that Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd., in which Latha is the director, did not refund Rs. 6.20 cr.

Mediaone was about to pay Rs. 10 cr along with guaranteed profit of Rs. 1. 20 cr to the advertising firm.

The matter moved to the Karnataka High Court, which had cancelled all legal proceedings against Latha by stating the case is not about fraud but breach of agreement.

In February, the top court had asked Latha to pay the pending amount within three months.

Latha was pulled up by the apex court last week after she failed to clear the dues within the fixed time frame.
