SC slams Archaeological Survey of India for not maintaining Taj Mahal
New Delhi, May 9 (IBNS): The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that the pristine white colour of the Taj Mahal in Agra is turning brown and green because of dirty socks and algae, media reports said.
This comes as the apex court slammed ASI for failing to protect the Taj Mahal from discolouring.
It said: "The problem is that ASI is not willing to accept that there is a problem. This situation would not have arisen if the ASI had done its job."
Last week, the Supreme Court expressed concern about pollution affecting the archaeological marvel.
