Srinagar, Sep 6 (IBNS): Over 100 people died in rain-hit Jammu and Kashmir, the region that is witnessing its worst flood in nearly six decades, reports said.

Nearly 10,000 were stranded across the state as army jawans and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel carried out rescue operations in the affected regions. The flood has hit almost all 10 districts in the Jammu region.

To review the situation, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit the inundated belts on Saturday.

Singh will conduct an aerial survey in areas like Poonch, Rajouri and Anantnag districts. He will also hold a review meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, sources said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sanctioned Rs. 2 lakh for the family of those killed in rain-related incidents and Rs. 50,000 for the seriously injured in the flood-hit belts of Jammu and Kashmir.
