New Delhi, Apr 30 (IBNS): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Monday claimed there was an alleged 'political conspiracy' behind his release from AIIMS in the national capital.

He was undergoing a treatment in the hospital.

AIIMS discharged Lalu on Monday after his condition reportedly improved.

"This is unfair. it is a conspiracy (by the Centre)," Lalu was quoted as saying by media.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday visited AIIMS in New Delhi to meet the RJD chief.

The official Twitter handle of the RJD posted an image where Rahul could be seen interacting with Lalu in the hospital.

The party said Gandhi inquired about Lalu's health during his visit to the hospital.

The party tweeted: "Congress President Sh. @RahulGandhi Ji met RJD chief @laluprasadrjd Ji in AIIMS Hospital, New Delhi this morning and enquired about his deteriorating health condition."

A Ranchi court recently convicted and sentenced Lalu to several years of imprisonment in fodder scam cases.

He has been lodged in Ranchi's Birsa Munda Central Jail since Dec 23.
