Pulwama, Sep 2 (IBNS): A gun battle took place on early Tuesday morning between security forces jawans and armed militants holed up in a village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, reports said. There have been no reports of casualty on either side so far.

The operation was launched on Monday evening but was suspended at night. The encounter resumed on Tuesday morning.

According to sources, security forces launched a search drive in the Rajpora area acting on a specific tip off that three local militants were hiding in the region. The militants were hiding in the area and they reportedly opened fire to break the security blanket.

A joint team of the army and police officers cordoned off the entire area laying concertina wires. Search lights were also put up around the village of Hajan Balla to stop the movement of militants under the cover of darkness.
