Delhi: 40 girls rescued from Godman's den in Rohini

New Delhi, Dec 22 (IBNS): At least 40 girls, mostly minors, have been rescued from a self-styled Godman's ashram in Delhi on Thursday, reports said.

The 'Baba' in question has been identified as Virendra Dev Dikshit, who runs an accommodation camp in Delhi's Rohini area.

Reports said that Dixit was obsessed with the idea of living with 16,000 women, as he likened himself to Lord Krishna, who too according to some versions of mythology, had the same number of 'wives'.

According to Mail Today, the Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya Ashram was first raided earlier this week.

The raid found syringes and medicines aplenty.

The raid was conducted after Delhi High Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) to look into complaints filed by a group of parents that Dixit was sexually exploiting minor girls inside the premises.

Further investigations revealed that the girls were cramped in inhumane conditions, with no sunlight and were barred from interacting with their relatives.

Dixit also forced the parents to sign that they willfully sent their daughters to him and when the minors turned 18, he made them sign that they remained with him willfully too.

According to ANI news agency, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal has said, "The accused Baba Virendra Dev Diskhit should be arrested immediately."
