New Delhi, Oct 22 (IBNS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday slammed Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over an ordinance and said it was 2017 and not 1817.

"Madam Chief Minister, with all humility we are in the 21'st century. It's 2017, not 1817," the office of Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Stirring controversy, the Rajasthan government has brought a new law, that states public servants, including lawmakers, ministers and officials can only be probed after receiving government's consent, media reports said.

Following the allegations against any public servant, the government will decide within six months whether the particular case is worthy to be probed or not.

If the government fails to decide within six months time, it is bound to be sanctioned.

The Vasundhara Raje government has also stated the new law barres media from naming the accused public servant till the government considers the case to be probed.

The new law is applicable to both working and retired public servants.
