Residential house of slain Sarpanch set on fire in Shopian South Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 17 (IBNS): Supporters of militants a house of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worker Muhammad Ramzan on fire in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday.

Ramzan was killed last night by militants.

According to police, some youths, who are believed to be supporters of local militants in the area , set the house on fire after Showkat Falahi, a Hizb militant was killed in scuffle last night.

Three militants, including Falahi, fired upon Ramzan at his home in Homun village  of Nagbal  last night around 8 pm, police said on Monday.

Falahi was killed in a scuffle  by his own associate.

In a tweet, Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid wrote, “A mob on the instigation of militants attacked the house of ex sarpanch who was killed last night, police and Special Forces have rushed to the spot,”

In another tweet Shesh Paul Vaid said, "Family has been rescued by the police and security forces. Strong action under law is being taken against the perpetrators."
