Kolkata, Aug 17 (IBNS): In a bid to attract more investments and partnerships, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee commenced her first foreign trip as she left for Singapore on Sunday.

West Bengal Minister for Finance, IT, Industries and Commerce Amit Mitra told media: "We are going to Singapore, led by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee. We are hopeful."

The opposition parties have criticisied Banerjee's foreign trip.

Criticising Banerjee's visit to Sinagpore, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee President Adhir Chowdhury told media: "Everything will end in  smoke..In a state where the Tata (Motors) had to leave, I strongly  doubt whether any other foreign investor will arrive here."

"Until the situation in the state becomes better till then it is nothing but a day dream to think that the situation for establishing industry will be better here,"  Communist Party of India(Marxist) leader Biman Bose told media.
