Kolkata, Sep 14 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday summoned two senior officials of West Bengal Police force in connection with its ongoing probe into Saradha financial scam, sources said.

According to sources, the Central probe agency served notices to Shankar Bhattacharya and Dilip Hazra, who were in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by West Bengal government to probe Saradha scam in 2013, asking them to appear at CBI's office at CGO Complex in Salt Lake on Friday morning.

"We have summoned Shankar Bhattacharya and Dilip Hazra, two senior officials of West Bengal Police force who were in Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate that time and involved in Saradha scam investigation," a CBI official told IBNS.

Shankar Chakraborty is currently serving as a DSP of West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while Dilip Hazra retired from his service, reports said.

However, no reaction has been received either from these cops or senior officials of state police so far.

The multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam left lakhs of depositors fleeced in West Bengal and triggered a political uproar.
