J&K: Solder killed during gun-fight with militants

Srinagar, Aug 6 (IBNS) An Indian Army soldier was killed during a gunfight between militants and soldiers at Leepa Valley near Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir's frontier district Kupwara on Wednesday.

Defence officials said that a group of 5-6 intruders, who had sneaked into this part of Kashmir near Eagle Post a week back, were
hiding as Army had cordoned off the area and had given no room to the militants to escape from the spot.

The Army launched a massive search operation in the area while the hiding militants attacked on joint team of forces with sophisticated weapons resulting in the death of a soldier, officials said.

Army officials identified the deceased soldier as Naik Damodar Thapa.
