Sonowal directs cultural affairs department to protect historical sites of Mottock community

Guwahati, June 22 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the Cultural Affairs Department to take immediate steps for conservation of historical sites which date back to the times of Mottock Rulers including Sarbananda Singha.

Sonowal issued the direction for declaration of the historical sites as protected sites under Assam Ancient Monuments and Records Act, 1959.

The sites which will be protected under the Act include Kunti Pukhuri, Sarogodha Pukhuri, Borgodha Pukhuri, Tinkunia Pukhuri, Selukia Pukhuri, Lamten Pukhuri, Borphukhuri, Bator Pukhuri, Bengmora Pukhuri, Na-Pukhuri and Chauldhua Pukhuri.
