Farooq Abdullah takes massive lead in Kashmir bypoll

Srinagar, Apr 15 (IBNS) Former Union Minister and National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah has taken a massive lead over his nearest rival Nazir Khan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the counting of by-polls to Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency.

When reports last came in Farooq had secured 28927 votes against 19728 of Khan. Counting of votes was underway in Srinagar Parliamentary constituency at SKICC.

The counting for the seat, spread over three districts with a total of 15 assembly constituencies, started at 8 am.

The bypoll for the seat was conducted on April 9 and the repoll at some polling stations held on April 13 after the segment witnessed large scale protests.
