Ex-Bihar CM says he was with NDA under political compulsion

Patna, Feb 15 (TheBiharPost): Former Bihar chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president Jitan Ram Manjhi said he was with the NDA under political compulsions and would quit the NDA the moment Nitish Kumar joined it.

“I would go with Lalu Prasad if Nitish Kumar joins the NDA,” Manjhi told the media in Dhanbad on Tuesday.

He said he was with the NDA under compulsion saying had Kumar not being part of the ruling Grand Alliance, he would have been with Lalu Prasad.

He alleged Kumar is currently fed with leaders in his Grand Alliance and has been trying hard to join the BJP-led NDA. “And, he (Kumar) has no other option as we’ll,” he remarked, “But if that happens, I will join the Grand Alliance.”

According to him, Kumar’s move to support demonetization drive of Narendra Modi and then pulling out from the UP elections are  simply aimed at improving his relations with the BJP.

Manjhi’s observations assume significance in the light of the Bihar CM filling colours in the Lotus sketch of an artist at the Patna book fair on Saturday.
