Margaret Alva takes oath as Goa Governor

Panaji, July 12 (IBNS): Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva was on Saturday sworn in as the Governor of Goa.

The oath of office to Alva was administered by  Bombay High Court Chief Justice Mohit Shah during a  function at Raj Bhavan here.

On July 7, President Pranab Mukherjee accepted the resignation of BV Wanchoo as the Governor of Goa.

Wanchoo earlier resigned from his post hours after he was quizzed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a witness in the AgustaWestland chopper deal scam.

Wanchoo was the chief of the Special Protection Group or the SPG, which gives protection to the Prime Minister.
