PM Modi's TRP-based policy has forced on nation a catastrophic experiment : Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IBNS) : Assailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "vanity and incompetence," Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged that the Prime Minister is forcing a catastrophic experiment" on the country with his "TRP-based policy" of demonetisation, reports said.

The Gandhi fusillade came at a meeting of the party's Parliamentary committee, which he chaired in the absence of his mother and party President Sonia Gandhi.

"The Congress will put is full weight behind any genuine move to fight corruption and black money," Gandhi said, but alleged the PM has "confused India's entire cash economy with the black money."

The Congress has been leading the Opposition attack on the Government, protesting the ban on 500 and 1,000-rupee notes that has created a cash crunch, especially in rural India.

In a counter to the oft-repeated barbs of Modi at the Congress, Gandhi said, "“The Prime Minister often asks what the Congress did in the last 60 years....I would like to tell the prime minister what the Congress didn’t do in 67 years..."

"“The Congress never gave India a prime minister who was a prisoner of his own image...We never gave India a prime minister who was ready to inflict such tremendous suffering on the people of India to protect his own persona. We never gave India a prime minister who based his entire policy making strategy on TRPs,” Rahul said.

“We never gave India a Prime Minister who bypassed the experience of those sit ting in the institutions. The country has suffered tremendous damage as a result of the vanity and incompetence of our PM,” he said.

The opposition has paralysed Parliament demanding an  explanation from PM Modi on his demonetisation drive and then an apology for declaring that those questioning the reform are "supporters of corruption and black money".
