Woman engineer burnt alive in Bihar, investigations on

Patna, Oct 25 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A woman engineer, in Bihar, was allegedly burnt to death after being tied to a chair, reports said on Tuesday.

The gruesome incident took place in Ahiyapur locality of Muzaffarpur district on Monday.


Police said the victim, Sarita Kumari, was employed as a junior engineer in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in Muraul block of the district.

The incident came to light after one of her colleagues visited her rented house in the locality on Monday.

Reports said soon after he entered her house, he saw smoke coming out of the room and a stench reached him.

He informed the police immidiately. 

Soon after getting information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the victim’s bones, clothes and slippers from the site.

Victim’s family believes she was tied to a chair before being set on fire. Police believe inflammable material were used to set the victim afire.

The reason behind the murder is still not known. Police are investigating the case.

According to reports, the victim lived with her children and had a strained relationshipt with her husnband.
