Italian marine moves Indian SC for modifications in bail conditions
Latorre wants to remain in Italy till final decision of international tribunal on jurisdictional issue.
Replying to a tweet inquiring if there has been any change in plans as mentioned by an Indian daily, Vikas Swarup, Official Spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, India, said on Sep 6, "No such assurance was sought or given. Marines remain under jurisdiction of Supreme Court of India.Matter is under arbitration."
The apex court is set to hear the case on Sep 20.
Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, were arrested in Feb 2012 on charges of killing two fishermen off the coast of Kerala while the Italians were on duty aboard the Italian-flagged commercial oil tanker MV Enrica Lexie.
Both have been subsequently allowed to return to Italy on bail on medical and humanitarian grounds.
