New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS): The Indian Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Uttar Pradesh government and its minister Azam Khan for the latter's remarks on the Bulandshahr rape case, according to media reports.

The father of the victim had approached the apex court with a pleas that the probe and the trial be shifted out of Uttar Pradesh following Khan's comment that the case was a political conspiracy and that the investigative agencies should probe if any opposition party was involved in the rape.

The Supreme Court said the comment was objectionable and insensitive, media reported.

SC also raised several constitutional questions such as if a person holding a government office can make such remarks that raise a doubt in the minds of the victims about a fair probe and if such a statement can be part of one's freedom of speech and expression. according to reports.

According to media reports, Khan has said that he finds nothing wrong in what he said on Bulandshahr rape case.

The apex court has appointed senior lawyer FS Nariman as amicus curiae in the matter which will now be taken up after three weeks.

On the night of Jul 29, a group of highway robbers stopped the car of a Noida- based family and sexually assaulted a woman and her daughter after dragging them out of the vehicle, which had four other occupants.
