Singapore Deputy PM calls on Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IBNS): Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore called on Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Singapore on the sad demise of former Singapore  President S. R. Nathan and said Singapore has lost one of its great sons.

Singapore Deputy PM Shanmugaratnam briefed Narendra Modi on the status of various bilateral cooperation initiatives, especially in the areas of Skill Development and Smart Cities.

The Indian Prime Minister recalled his successful visit to Singapore in November 2015, during which the bilateral relationship was upgraded to a “strategic partnership”, and said that he is keenly looking forward to the visit of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to India in the near future.
