ULFA (I) uses minors as sleeper cell in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 17 (IBNS) : Militant groups of North East India used minors as sleeper cell to trigger explosions and it came to light after Assam police apprehended two minors who worked for them.

Based on intelligence input, Tinsukia district police on Wednesday apprehended two minors who worked as sleeper cell for Paresh Baruah alias Paresh Asom led United Liberation Front of Asom (Independence).

“The minors revealed that they had installed the Improvised Explosive Device (IED)’s which were exploded in five different areas in Oil and Tea rich Upper Assam’s Tinsukia and Sivsagar district on August 15 as the state celebrating Independence Day,” a top police official said.

“Both minors were engaged by ULFA(I) militants as sleeper cell,” the police official said.

Six IED’s exploded in the two Upper Assam’s districts on Aug 15 morning as the state celebrating Independence Day.


A police official said that it is very unfortunate and dangerous incident as an outfit group used minors as their sleeper cell and installed IED’s by them.
