AAP MP Mann suspended from LS monsoon session, 9-member panel to probe Parliament video

New Delhi, July 25 (IBNS) : Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann has been suspended from the Lok Sabha pending a decision by a Parliamentary committee which will probe into his action of shooting and uploading in social media a video to show security lapses in the high-security zone in the vicinity of Parliament.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan directed that  Mann shall  remain suspended for the duration of the Monsoon Session or until a decision is reached by the nine-member committee.

BJP MP Kirit Somaiya will head the panel.

Mahajan said the probe will look into the security aspect of the action of Mann. She said breach of parliamentary security is a serious issue.

Earlier Mann had said: "I have sought unconditional apology and have given a letter to the Speaker too. My intention was never to expose the Parliament to security risk."

He said it was a mistake but he has sought apology. He also, however, said the BJP was trying to give the issue a different colour.

Mahajan, who had summoned Mann, earlier said action will be taken against him.

The AAP leader had uploaded on social media the 11-minute clip taken on his way to Parliament which he claimed was intended to point out the security lapses. His action  raised questions over the safety of lawmakers and prompted several law makers to demand a privilege motion against him.
